Real-time vineyard monitoring dashboard
Good wine starts with good data. In this project, we installed four Internet-of-Things sensors across four vineyards in Biscoitos, on Terceira Island, to collect hourly weather data and monitor vineyard conditions more closely.
I developed a real-time dashboard to visualize this information and support disease risk assessment. The application combines time series data on temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind, and solar radiation to estimate the risk of primary downy mildew infection, a disease that can affect healthy vines.
This was also a great opportunity to explore Julia for web development. I built the dashboard with Dash.jl and really enjoyed working with the framework. Beyond the technical challenge, it was rewarding to create a tool that can be genuinely useful for winemakers by helping them identify infection periods and take preventive action.
The webpage is currently available in Portuguese, since it was designed for local Azorean producers. The English version, along with the code, is available in this Notebook.
